A number of members of the Assad militia were seriously injured yesterday after being beaten by Russian soldiers in the city of Palmyra in the eastern Homs countryside, due to a dispute over the theft of fuel allocations. The Assad regime was subsequently punished by the Syrian regime for angering the Russians.
The course of the event
According to sources from the city of Palmyra that three elements belonging to the fourth division of the militia of the regime were seriously injured in the head, chest and limbs after the beatings were subjected to extreme cruelty following a dispute over the fuel trade stolen by Russian soldiers from the allocation of their units.
The sources pointed out that the elements of the Assad militia tried to evade paying the price of fuel, which sold to the merchants of Palmyra.
Before they were found by Russian soldiers in the center of the city of Palmyra and began beating them using the heels of guns and sticks for more than a quarter of an hour.
It added that the injured elements were transferred to the hospital and that the leadership of their unit issued a penalty for them was put in prison.
Accused of "insulting friendly forces" and their fourth-division colleagues did not dare to get them out of the hands of the Russians.
Sharing control
Russia and Iran share effective control over the city of Palmyra, east of Homs, with the formation of the Assad militia in secondary positions on its outskirts.
